The Mighty Mapogos are a group of 5 - 6 male lions that have moved into the Djuma area.

As we were driving along this morning, we came across thousands of ants (Army Ants??), marching along. The trail or ants was remarkably long and it didn't seem to end!

Here is the resident hippo at Gowrie Dam. If don't see any other animals on the drive, we can always count on seeing him - or at least part of him!

Ahhh....he would make any dentist proud with such capabilities of opening wide. ;)

What makes a raptor a raptor? Well, a raptor, or a bird of prey, are meat eaters and use their feet, instead of their beak, to capture prey. They have exceptionally good vision, a sharp, hooked beak, and powerful feet with curved, sharp talons. Here are 3 remarkable raptors found in South Africa.

WHIMSICAL WEATHER

You would think that with these clouds, Djuma has some nasty weather in store. Their weather seems a bit peculiar to me though. Living on the prairies, if we get thunderstorm clouds looming, chances are a thunderstorm will hit the area. In South Africa, it appears that you can get these cumulonimbus clouds, with the promise of rain on the horizon, but yet, not have anything develop for the most part.
